Prof. Nelson M. Nico, Sr., Business Administrator of Tawam Hospital,  has worked half of his life overseas.

He was a Computer Operator who also acted as Hospital Administrative Assistant, Training Instructor and Project Coordinator way back 1986 in Saudi Arabia for 18 years and now spends almost 10 years in the UAE.

Most of these years were spent with community services. In fact, he holds the distinction as the Executive Chairman of Filipino Community (FILCOM) Al Ain, the only authorized and recognized organization by the Philippine Embassy in that region. In June 2014, it received recognition from POLO-OWWA as a Migrants Workers organization during ceremonies at the Philippine Embassy.

At 51, he’s grateful for the blessings he and his family continue to receive. “I am so thankful for having what I have at present. I have a happy complete God-fearing family.

He’s married for 31 long years to the former Maria Teresa Espinosa, whom he describes as “an ordinary businesswoman with dedicated time to our family as well.”

They have 4 children – Rhea Mae, 30, a Medical Coder at Al Ain Hospital;  Nelson Jr, 27  and Nelson  III, 21 both  are registered Nurse and  Nelson IV, 18  a BS Avionics and Flying student.

Looking back, he has one great wish. “I wish I am in the best position with good influence to use for helping more people and provide better community services.  Sometimes, it is too difficult to talk, convince, gather and winning trusts and helps from others if you are just an ordinary person.”

He’s planning his early retirement and to use his remaining years to religious and community services with all his family members.
