Hotelier at the top of hospitality firms

As an expat for almost 14 years, Ian Paul D. Medalle has adjusted to a life of working and enjoying the product of hard work.

“I focus on staying contented with what I have in my life.  A usual day is driving to work, get things done and look at new ways of improving or improvising tasks at hand.” His day ends after hitting the gym and relaxing in his apartment.

While humility runs in his veins, Ian is not your usual, typical young executive. At 39 years old, he has worked in different luxury hospitality companies with the last being at Oetker Collection which has the most inspiring selection of masterpiece hotels in the world. It is privately owned and headquartered in Baden-Baden, Germany.

During his tenure at Oetker Collection, his function was based in Dubai and Paris but also required him to go on regular trips to other parts of Europe. He’s successful indeed if you just look at how he managed to emerge triumphant after 16 years in the hospitality industry since 1996 way back in Mactan, Cebu.

His recent post is now Associate Director, CRM & Consumer Marketing for Kerzner International for One&Only Resorts. He oversees the managing of its database and direct/email marketing campaigns.  This allows him to look after the entire collection’s portfolio including those of One&Only Royal Mirage and One&Only The Palm in Dubai, One&Only Le Saint Geran in Mauritius, One&Only Cape Town, in South Africa just to name a few of these jewel-like resorts.
