This Filipino achiever who is an expert on club photo shoot, model portfolios, wedding photography and architectural photography, was one of the winners of 2012 The Spirit of Ramadan Art Contest organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts. His winning entry was titled Fanouz Light.
Chito Pachica is an IT professional but he decided to make his passion his profession hence he works as a fulltime photographer. “I don’t take photos; I capture moments,” said Chito, an active member of the Filipino Professional Photographers
Chito, 35, took his B. S. Electronics and Communications Engineering in 2002 at the University of the East. A team player, flexible and adventurous, he has been widely recognized for his wide experience in events, fashion, product, architecture, portfolio, wedding and sports photography. He was commended as outstanding employee in his previous company.
It was in 2004 when Chito was asked to cover an event, which paved the way for him to embrace photography as a lifelong profession. In 2007, he moved to Dubai and worked as an IT administrator for a real estate firm.
Few months after, he bought his own DLSR-Nikon D60. His company shut down in 2010. “IT jobs were very limited and the competition was very high. I decided to take fitness training course so I can accept freelance fitness training job. Despite financial restrictions, I continued doing free photo shoots and regular photo sessions with friends on week-ends.”
He was eventually employed as photographer by a production company. “It was a fresh start for me and my family. I found my passion and it became my profession.” He’s a constant believer of Racho’s advice in the famous movie 3 Idiots which says, “make your passion your profession.”
“This gave me boundless joy and limitless opportunities.”
This father of two kids, aged six and three, was hired for the product and event launch of Fashion Forward Launch and Middle East Film and Comic Congress. In 2012, he was seen taking pictures at the Global Village, Gulf Bike Week, Dubai Summer Surprises, Gulf Film Festival, Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, Land Rovers Cars Parade at the World Trade Center, DSF Official Opening Ceremony Fireworks.
He has covered the following conferences: The Digital Media Forum at Royale Mirage, the 19th GCC eGovernment and eServices at Ritz Carlton, the 10th Leading CEO Conference at Burj Al Arab and the WTTC Global Summit Exclusive coverage for US president Bill Clinton in Abu Dhabi.
As a sports photographer, he smiles at the thought of remembering his shots during the Dubai Fighting Championship at the DFC, Dubai World Cup, Dubai Polo Gold Cup , Dubai Rugby, FMX Stunts- Master of Dirt- DFC, Dubai Sports World-Summers Ultimate Indoor Sports Arena- DWTC, Destiny in the Dessert II- boxing, Thai boxing and MMA extravaganza-DWTC, Dubai International Boxing Championship at The Aviation Club and at the 23rd Dubai International Basketball Championship
He was commissioned to take photos of the following product and food: Fashion Collection(Sarah Hegazi, Shrekhant, Yasi Couture), Carrefour , Intermetal Furniture and Paparazzi Shoes. He did corporate shoot and portfolio for Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP), Dubai Export, Flicker Show, Plan.net Middle East, Royal Homes Real Estate and Premiere Real Estate as well as brand photography for Corona Island , DSF 2012 Ski Dubai, DSF Desert Camp, DSF – Al Warqa 4 and at At the top, Burj Khalifa Observatory – Burj Khalifa.
It was a busy year for Chito in 2012. He would jumped from one place to another for his photography gigs at shows and fairs. In January 2012 alone, he covered at least 14 shows. The list includes Fun Fair, Monte Carlos Circus, Toy Orchestra and Trio Jugglers all in Al Rigga. During the Dubai Summer Festival, he was also at the International Kite Festival at the Dubai Outlet Mall, Traditional Bands at the Heritage Village, Charlie and the Chocolate Bean at the Reef Mall, The Return of Shaolin Monks at the Mirdiff City Center, Power Puff Girls Concert at Burjuman Mall, Magic for Monster, Little Red Hiding Hood, and Bubbling Comedy at Marina Mall; Nissan Raffle Draw at Burjsteps; and Instrumental Music at Festival Promenade.
He was at the Teletubbies show – Dubai World Trade Center, World of Puppets –Mirdiff City Center Smurfs Show- Mirdiff Mall, Fazza Youla For Children Championship- Dubai World Trade Center, Modhesh Musical Show: Modhesh’s Holiday in Space – Dubai World Trade Center and The Stolen Smile circus show.
One Click At A Time
He was an official photographer at the Urjala Asianet Film Award 2012, the most prominent award ceremony for Malaylam Film held at the DFC Concert Arena and at the New year Concert Special interpretations of Arabic classics by Mohamad Hamami, Sharq, Orchestra and Charbel Rouhana in the Mall of Emirates.
He took shots of the Skywards International Dubai Jazz Festival which featured James Morrison, Jason Mraz, Sandi Thom, Spyro Gyra Brett Dennen and Dirty Robbers.
He was also at the “Ello Ello”, an internationally acclaimed dinner show held at Marriott Hotel’s Courtyard and at Layali Dubai -Sherin Abdul Wahab And Fadel Shaker -Burj Steps;
Phenomenon- Voci d’oro – Swiss Days at MOE Ductac; Duo Fullhouse – Action Comedy- Swiss Days Dubai 2012 at MOE Ductac; and at The Ultimate Dream Concert of Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milbi at DFC.
It is no surprising at all that he was asked to take photo coverage of Du World Music Festival, Jazz Festival at DFC, Slash Concert at Aviation Club, World Parachuting Championships with Katy Perry and Usher-Meydan, Megadeth at DFC, Daugtry and Razorlight at DFC, CATS the Musical –Ductac at MOE, Under African Skies at Madinat Jumerah, Malaysia’s Seni Permata (Jewel of the Art) at DWTC, Pitbull Live in Concert-Planet Pit World Tour 2012 at DWTC, and Evanescence Live in Dubai at DWTC.
He covered two separate red carpet events at Cirque du Soir which featured Kimberly Wyatt and Nicole Scherzinger.
While being a multi-awarded professional photographer, Chito is humble enough to widen his horizon by attending seminars. In 2012, he was a student of David Tajeda, Louis Pang, Zack Arias and Bobbi Lane. He joined the Flash Bus Class with David Hobby and Joe McNally. In 2009, he attended a training on digital photography and workshops on basic off-camera lighting, basic off-camera lighting and basic photoshop.
It’s a long journey for this man but he holds on to his firm belief that passion tells a story one click at a time.
