Bicolano marks 45th year of doing business


Having 45 years of experience formally and informally over 50 countries, this Filipino achiever is currently the in-charge for the new technology innovation at MediaCom International LLC. 

As Managing Director and Partner, he manages a strong team of a 100 plus professionals.This proud 63-year old Bicolano dreams to provide a personal computer to poor homes in the world.

Living His Dream

Renato was born in Naga City on October 25, 1950. He graduated Salutatorian at Mercedes Elementary School in Mercedes,  Camarines Norte in 1962.

He finished his secondary education at La Consolacion School in 1966 as among the top ten students of the class. He was also Orator of the Year and Battalion Commander of School Military Training Course with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He earned his degree in Bachelor of Arts major in English at Ateneo de Naga College in Naga City in 1969. He took his second degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting at the Philippine School of Business Administration in Manila in 1972.

He passed the Government Board Examination for Certified Public Accountant.

Professional Career

After his university education, he worked from 1973 to 1978 as General Manager of RGP Fish Brokerage, a family-owned business.

In 1978, he was hired as Executive Assistant to the President of Peninsula Development Bank in Lucena City. A year after in 1979, he was transferred to PDB’s branch in Daet, Camarines Norte as Branch Manager, a post he held until 1982. To further his knowledge, he completed the Course on Development Banking for Branch Managers at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) in Tagaytay City. He also attended the Seminar on Central Bank Rules and Regulations for Development Banks organized by the Central Bank of the Philippines.

In 1983, he moved to Makati City as General Manager of UNICON Builders through which he led the development of housing projects until 1985.

Opportunities to try his luck abroad came in 1985 when he was hired as Chief Accountant of Middle East Agricultural Corporation based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 1988, he transferred to COMPUSERVE as Deputy General Manager.

The prospect of a brighter future was the rallying point for this entrepreneur to establish his own company in Dubai. In 1993, he set-up Samraa Trading and worked full time as its General Manager. This business persevered until 1997 when he founded MediaCom International LLC in partnership with Mr. Syed Hussain Naqvi.

All through these years, he managed to attend almost yearly seminars on new technologies at various trade shows. He was present at Consumer Electronic Shows in Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Seoul. He also participated in Taiwan Computex held in Taipei.

Strawberry on the Cake

MediaCom International LLC is considered as the Gulf’s leading karaoke brand that has provided high-tech devices and content to over half a million households across the Middle East region and Philippines.

In short, it replaces the laptop and/or PC and becomes a home computing device for both high-income users and low-income families.

“We always say a PC for every home but in reality, only the high-end & middle income groups can afford it. Now we enable the cheapest MDROID PC to every low-income home and once the women are having access to latest info-technology, they will automatically teach their kids.”

M-Droid is now available at all leading electronic retailers such as Emax, Plug-ins, Jackys and MediaCom’s stand-alone stores across UAE. The product has widespread presence in KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman through various electronic dealers.
