A Senior Executive Financial Consultant of Nexus Insurance Brokers, the largest independent financial advisory brokerage in Middle East and Singapore, received the Bagong Bayani (New Hero) Award for Outstanding Employee.

Liezl M. Quiliza-Cruz received the award along with other recipients in fitting ceremonies on June 7, 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.

The Bagong Bayani Awards is a worldwide search for the country’s outstanding and exemplary Overseas Filipino Workers.

As a Filipino hero, her name has been etched, together with the past awardees, on the Bantayog ng mga Bagong Bayani or BBA Wall of Fame located at the Grounds of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in Mandaluyong City, Philippines.

A graduate of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Liezl is a world-class, multi-awarded Filipina financial literacy advocate based in oil-rich Abu Dhabi who is at the forefront of rallying the migrants towards the road to financial freedom.

She established a name overseas as the first Filipino and the first woman who received the highest award given to a Financial Adviser in Nexus. In 2012, she made history as the first and only Filipino in the history of Nexus to achieve over 1.5 million dirhams in submitted business both life and investment products. This singular honor has been confirmed by the company.

Just like ordinary Filipinos seeking greener pastures for their family, Liezl moved to UAE in October 2010. She managed to clinch the most coveted CEO Award at Nexus for three years – from 2012 to 2014.

She belongs to the top 200 among the 38,000 members Worldwide of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). To date, she manages a growing portfolio worth 8 million USD with almost 800 clients for more than 5 years in the company. As such, she is being looked up to today as a top notch financial adviser in GCC and one of the most known IFAs in the Middle East.

With all the long list of distinguished achievements Liezl was able to reach, she can sit well, relax and travel. Life is more than comfortable and work is optional for her, yet she choose to pursue her passion of  helping expats particularly the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to be debt-free, and financially-free.

She once said, “It is depressing to see some of our kabayans who are burdened by loans, credit cards and who have been here for many years yet not even a single dirham savings in their bank account.” A Filipina with a Heart, she always aspires to help her kababayans get out from financial drowning. Of course, we know of the plight of many Filipinos who are languishing in jails in Middle East for their financial failures.

This native of Surigao del Sur pioneered in the conduct of Wealth Creation Seminars free of charge in hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, among other places which have touched thousand of lives of workers and which now serve as a model template for other financial advocates to put up similar activities across the region.

As a consequence of her acclaimed success, she has traveled with her family to Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Turkey, Singapore and USA, among other places. Life is a journey and this charismatic heroine uses her growing influence for the better – to inspire a greater number of Filipinos today and in the years to come.
